In this deletion request, you accepted the nominator (Grand-Duc)'s argument and deleted the file. However, as stated in the guidance of Commons:De minimis, ‘the file is categorised in relation to X’ is merely an indicator and cannot serve as a valid reason for deletion. For example, File:Louvre at night centered.jpg mentions the copyright‑protected pyramid in its description and is categorized under Category:Louvre Pyramid at night. Being placed in such a category or being mentioned in the description does not make a file subject to deletion. Please explain the legitimate grounds for deletion and the reason for disregarding Japanese law. Y.haruo (talk) 23:23, 19 June 2026 (UTC)
The rule is that in order for a copyrighted work to be de minimis it must be insignificant to the image so that an ordinary viewer would not notice if it were removed. (talk page stalker) That stance conflicts with the numerous DRs several years ago related to Biden in China. In those cases, an artwork covered the entirety of the photo, to the point where the public figures depicted were barely discernable in some cases.
